Can Mass Communication, from the media, Influence YOU?

In my opinion, yes , but I believe there are a lot of things that can influence how easily you yourself can be influenced. I believe that you must do your own research, especially when reading things on social platforms because of the spread of misinformation.

Let’s begin by going over what characteristics makes a message “Mass Communication”:

  • Scale: This means that the transmitted message must transmitted to a wide audience. Mass communication is “mass” when it is distributed to a large audience. In contrast, “small scaled communication” can be a person talking to another person, it can also include a few people or even 14 people. This “small scaled communication” can be described as being interpersonal communication. Mass communication can be distributed to thousands or even millions of people. A few examples of this mass communication in, written form, were newspapers, best-selling books, magazines. As technology advanced, newer methods of mass communication emerged such as: the telegraph, radio, television, and now the internet.
