OMG! Did you hear about…
How is news spread through our social groups?
Telegraphs and even newspapers… remember those? The ways that the news is consumed have come along way throughout history. It seems that we have media available in many more places than ever. Before the advances in technology, people relied on face-to-face contact. However, the access to information is now at the palm of your hands for many. Is that information reliable? What stories have we heard about? How have we heard them? If it was from a person… where did they hear it?
How the news began in my life.
My parents are both immigrants that came to the United States for a better life. My father came from Peru and my mother from Paraguay. They worked very hard so they could put me through private school. I attended St. Francis Preparatory for high school in Fresh Meadows, NY, and I will touch back on that later. However, from as far as I could remember, my dad would read his news in El Diario every single day. I also remember both of them watching the news on TV and looking to see what the weather would be like for that day before work.
