TikTok has managed to surpass Youtube’s average time spent on the app per user. This shows the evolution of social media apps throughout time and it is also a good indicator that TikTok has been able to achieve a higher engagement level than Youtube because TikTok’s users are watching content for longer periods of time.

A reason for this can be because people are more likely to watch shorter videos until the end. If you would like to read my article that talks about this click here. People’s attention span has gone down from 12 seconds in the year 2000 to 8.25 seconds in the year 2015.

Data from app monitoring firm App Annie indicates that the average time per user spent on the apps is higher for TikTok, indicating high levels of engagement.

The average length of time spent watching a single is 2.7 minutes. It might also not be a coincidence that TikTok has increased its video length limit from 60 seconds to 3 minutes… about 2 months ago.
